Java 8 comes with a different JavaScript engine ("Nashorn") to that included in Java7 ("Rhino"). As JobScheduler can use the JavaScript engine provided with Java for shell scripts, it is important that users wishing to use Java 8 in future JobScheduler versions ensure that any scripts they may have are capable of being executed with the Nashorn engine.

We are pleased to announce the release of the first 1.7 version of JobScheduler and JADE, bringing significant new features and bug fixes. The new JobScheduler features in particular represent a major step on the way to making JobScheduler a serious contender to established enterprise level products.

The forthcoming release of version JobScheduler 1.7 will bring restrictions to the JobScheduler Engine commands that can be carried out via HTTP GET. From version 1.7 onwards only "read" access will be allowed.

A packaging error meant that the JADE JITL jobs were initially omitted from the downloads of JobScheduler release 1.6.4131. We corrected this on Friday, 16th May, 19:14.

We have released versions 1.6.4131 of JobScheduler and JADE. This is a bug-fix for an issue in JADE (JADE-197) and the JobScheduler JADE JITL jobs.

We have released versions 1.6.4119 of JobScheduler and JADE. These releases are a mixture of bug-fixes and improvements. The most important improvements are the addition of setbacks to our new implementation for our JITL sync job and the addition of zlib compression as an option for JADE.

JobScheduler's JOC and the JADE Background Service interfaces do not work with the latest version 34 of Google's Chrome browser. JOC and the JADE Background Service interfaces are affected.

Heartbleed is a bug in the OpenSSL software, which is used for Internet communications that use the SSL/TLS protocols. JobScheduler can use SSH, which is a different protocol and thereby unaffected by Heartbleed. The Heartbleed bug is in the part of the OpenSSL software that implements the TLS protocol's Heartbeat Extension. SSH has a similar function – called 'keepalive' but this uses a different mechanism.

After careful consideration, we have decided to stop providing JobScheduler setups for SPARC Solaris systems. However, we will support commercially licensed customers with SPARC machines who want to make builds on their own hardware.

We are pleased to announce a new release for JobScheduler and JADE: - 1.6.4043 is a release for JobScheduler which brings bug-fixes and some new features. Whilst the new features are relatively minor, two of the bug-fixes are important and we recommend that all users of version 1.6.4014 update to 1.6.4043.
