The first beta version of the 64-bit JobScheduler will be released in the fourth quarter of this year and will run on both 64-bit Windows and Linux systems.

In addition to the performance improvements that will come with 64-bit when operating on suitable hardware, this new development of the JobScheduler will include several important technical improvements. These, in turn, will allow the use of forward-looking standardised components without changing the functioning of the JobScheduler.

The most important of these are the use of Java DOM (instead of libxml2 and libxslt) and the implementation of JavaScript with the javax.script scripting API (instead of Spidermonkey).
