OPEN SOURCE - Job Scheduler - Presentation

Job Scheduler

If you are new to the job scheduling topic

A flash movie will give a basic introduction to the concept of order processing by using the Job Scheduler. The movie explains some Job Scheduler features and shows samples of complex scheduling tasks.

Quick view at one job scheduling scenario

Five images show excerpts from a case study. The images demonstrate in a simple way how the Job Scheduler was implemented for a customer project:
  • Images 1 & 2 illustrate the sending and receiving of inbound data from subsidiary reporting systems to a central headquarters subscriber system prior to the implementation of the Job Scheduler.

  • Images 3 & 4 illustrate the implementation of the Job Scheduler. Inbound data from company subsidiary reporting systems is collected using the Job Scheduler, which then manages the distribution of the data to the headquarter subscriber systems. Different formats of inbound and outbound data can easily be accommodated by the Job Scheduler.

  The user interface

Nine screenshots show the Job Scheduler's built-in grapical user interface. Each Job Scheduler contains a HTTP server which shows job status information in a GUI and allows to control jobs etc. Read more about the built-in GUI.

  Creating a job

The following samples show a GUI that was developed for customers who want to install several Job Schedulers on their system, and still comfortably configure and administrate them by using only one GUI. Since the installation of several Job Schedulers is a complex scenario, it is necessary to do some reading, you could start by reading about the feature called: Managed Jobs

If you are interested in this feature you can view the two short presentations, that will show you in the fastest way possible, to create a job and a job chain with the Job Scheduler.
Please note: If you want to try out the "Hello World" samples for Managed Jobs, you have to select "Managed Jobs" during the installation. This sceenshot shows the configuration.
